Healthy Eating Expo

During the post-race festival families will have an opportunity to see and taste the healthy, nutritious meals offered at schools throughout the San Juan Unified district.

Featured will be the breakfast pizza, teriyaki beef nuggets, cheeseburger, seasoned potato wedges and chicken drumstick from our Elementary menu. Secondary menu samples will include the breakfast sandwich, crumb square, spicy chicken patty sandwich, orange chicken and General Tso’s chicken.

Winning Recipes

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) held a recipe contest called Recipes for Healthy Kids. Teams of students (grades 4 to 12), school nutrition professionals, chefs, parents, and community members from across the country were challenged to partner and create tasty and healthy new recipes. These recipes incorporated whole grains, dry beans and peas, and dark green and orange vegetables. Here are the winning recipes along with other featured recipes.
